With the advancement of the global low-carbon economy and the arrival of the digital energy era, outdoor energy storage power supplies, as portable and rechargeable power devices, have been widely applied in various scenarios such as self-driving tours, outdoor camping, emergency rescue, mobile offices, and military communications. Along with the increasing enthusiasm for outdoor activities, the demand for outdoor energy storage continues to rise. Compared to traditional generators, the green, noiseless nature of outdoor energy storage power supplies has made them a popular choice and one of the indispensable tools for outdoor living.
Portable Energy Storage Power Management Architecture
Portable energy storage, also known as a "large power bank," features large capacity and high power, with internal lithium battery capacities generally ranging from 100Wh to 3000Wh. It is equipped with various interfaces, including AC/DC input, AC output, and USB A/C output. This has led to a demand for high-performance, reliable power products. Outdoor portable energy storage applications differ in schematic design based on battery capacity.
For small capacity applications (below 1kWh), most solutions use 4 to 6 series battery cells. For large capacity applications (above 1kWh), in order to reduce the bus current and better utilize the battery performance, 7 to 16 series battery cell solutions are used.
Solution Application Schematic
The portable energy storage solution is similar to that of a power bank. It is equipped with a Type-A port that supports a maximum of 18W power. The SCT2630 integrates over-voltage protection, over-current protection, and short-circuit protection. The Type-C port with high power can meet the demand via the SCT82630 controller, as well as PD3.1 applications. Meanwhile, the SCT82630 can be used for primary buck conversion to power devices like ambient lights and buzzers. For 100V products, the SCT2A00 is specifically designed to address the standby power consumption in customer battery protection boards, meeting the low standby power requirement of 49uA.

Large Capacity Solution
In large capacity solutions, the SCT82A30 (100V buck controller) provides primary buck conversion to power the MCU, fan, cigarette lighter, etc. The Type-C port can meet the demand via the SCT82A30 (100V buck controller). In high-power applications, the frequency jitter function of the SCT82A30 provides excellent EMC characteristics. The over-current protection uses hiccup mode to ensure lower overall temperature rise of the board during over-current and short-circuit protection, protecting peripheral components.
The SCT2650 integrates over-voltage protection, over-current protection, and short-circuit protection, offering high efficiency and low temperature rise, and the protocol IC application can be flexibly set.
